Rising Star Carey Mulligan is a young English girl who has been nominated for an Oscar, for her breakthrough role in An Education, in March. But, off screen, the 24 year old British actress have also been praised in the fashion world for her gorgeous, quirky looks
Mulligan is seen wearing a red dress with a beautiful brooch waist detail, by Lanvin, at the Screen Actors Guild Awards last month. She also goes for a similar strapless style in navy, by Nina Ricci at the Golden Globes, while minimal accessories such as a discreet jeweled hair band and gold, bird-motif bangle gave her an elegant look.
Variety magazine described her as ”the new Audrey Hepburn” when she wears sweet, long-sleeved dresses of the Sixties’. Carey also goes for prints or embellishment, steps out in bold pink, red and turquoise graphic floral minidress, and a silver “fractured mirror” frock by Prada.
With the help of her stylist, Tiina Laakkonen, she impressed the fashion crowd with the beautiful, wine-coloured goddess gown, she wore to the An Education afterparty in London. The dress was by Vionnet, the recently-revived French fashion label renowned for its draping.
Ms Mulligan also wore a fitted black dress by Prabal Gurung at the Annual Hollywood Awards Gala Ceremony last October. Prabal Gurung is a New-York based designer who favours edgy, architectural designs.
Carey Mulligan has now become one of Hollywood’s most sought-after actresses. According to Time magazine, a star is born. Carey had always wanted to be an actress since she was a child. ‘It’s like a dream come true,’ says the girl. Ms Mulligan is expected to impress with her choice of outfit at the next Oscar Awards.
